Ako Mismo - Advocacy of Change for the Filipino

I'm not bragging that I am the 144,171 member of this campaign. Or even thinking that this is just for publicity. I graduated from the University that quotes " Tunay, Palaban, Makabayan!". I believe that change is possible with our collective efforts. It needs to start now. By doing small things, or even doing the right thing.

Change is now, so be part of it. Visit http://www.akomismo.org and contribute.

Here's something from the site.

Who is Behind Ako Mismo?

DDB CARES

Thank you to the tens of thousands who have signed up with AKO MISMO and posted their commitments. It strengthens our belief that there are a lot of Filipinos out there who still care and are willing to personally commit in their own way towards creating a brighter future for the country.

The spirit behind AKO MISMO is DDB Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of the DDB Group in the Philippines, a group of companies engaged in the business of communications. For many years now, DDB Cares has championed advocacies it firmly believes in: protecting the environment, supporting the rights of women, the education of children, voting responsibly, to name a few.

AKO MISMO is a social advocacy undertaken by us, with the support of the PLDT Smart Foundation.

DDB Cares believes there is an urgent need to bring hope to Filipinos, particularly the youth, in the face of growing cynicism that is heightened by the current political, economic, social and moral crises.

We also believe that most Filipinos still desire change and would like to overcome the manifestation of hopelessness which is apathy. This change can emanate from the power of the individual contributing in small, meaningful ways and building up to a collective effort that can change the nation.

AKO MISMO is a movement to energize and rejuvenate young Filipinos and move them to action.

As an advocacy, it is anchored on the following fundamental beliefs:

1) There is an inherent desire in every Filipino to effect positive change in the country. This is a tremendous force for change.

2) Social Change is possible when individuals commit to a concrete actionable behavior that results to positive change

3) The power of the collective force of individuals who believe in making a difference will be the driving force for a sustainable transformation of Philippine society.

This is the advocacy that DDB Cares wishes to share with Filipinos, especially the youth. By registering with AKO MISMO, writing their commitments on the digital wall, members signify their intent to be part of a movement that will make a difference.

It is our collective desire that the action arising from our individual commitments as AKO MISMO advocates will mobilize a groundswell of change contributing to a bright future for our beloved Philippines. We all proclaim --- change starts with me!
AKO MISMO!
